16th June 2010: Jennyruth put up stylish window display in empty shop window

Story Picture

We have taken advantage of an empty shop in North Street, Ripon, to put up an eye-catching and stylish display. We hope to promote Jennyruth Workshops and to tell more people about what we offer to local adults who have a learning disability. We also hope to show people the quality products and gifts we make and to let people know about the work we do in the local community. All of us at Jennyruth would like to thank the owner of the shop for giving us this opportunity.

We also hope that the display adds to the look of Ripon City Centre. The empty shop windows make Ripon look run down. By using the empty space and putting up a good display we can hopefully make the approach to Ripon more attractive.

Oliver, a worker supported by staff member Janet, took a leading role in designing and making the display. He said "I enjoyed making the display. I made the shelves with John, a volunteer, and I helped put up the display in the window with Jane (a volunteer) and Janet. Ryan also helped by making the bunting with Jane and painting the Jennyruth Workshop letters white.

We have already had lots of positive feedback from people who spotted our shop window, which is a great encouragement.

If you haven't seen it yet go and have a look and let us know what you think!
